Megaliths in Brittany : the Cairn of Gavrinis

Cairn of Gavrinis is located in the Gulf of Morbihan, on the island of Gavrinis.
This exceptional megalithic monument is dated to the Neolithic period, between 3500 and 4000 BC, and at that time the island was joined to the Continent, the Gulf of Morbihan does not yet exist.
Gavrinis is famous worldwide for the magnificent carvings that are inside the Cairn and whose meaning is still quite mysterious.
The megalithic site is on the highest point of the island of Gavrinis and you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the entrance of the Gulf of Morbihan and its islands.
To discover the engraved stones of Gavrinis, boat departures are offered from Larmor-Baden, Locmariaquer or Port Navalo.
To protect this historic monument, these visits are made with a guide, remember to book tickets to the Sagemor in Larmor-Baden and enjoy your visit!
